Pensioner critical after Walsall collision

An 83-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car in Walsall last week.

The pensioner was left with head, neck and chest injuries after the collision with a blue Citroen C2 on Tuesday January 12. One week later his condition remains critical.

Police have today appealed for anyone who saw the collision, which took place on Longwood Lane at the junction with Sutton Road at around 5.45pm, to come forward.

Pc Jason Stacey from West Midlands Police Collision Investigation Unit, said: "As with all collisions resulting in serious injury, enquiries are being made to establish exactly what happened, I am keen to trace any witnesses to the incident.

"If you saw anything please come forward and contact us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 and quote incident number 1466 of January 12.
