Paramedics and police were called to the Planet nightclub in Westbury Street, Wolverhampton, at around 4.30am today.

They found three people lying unconscious on the ground outside the club. It is suspected that all three had collapsed due to the effects of drugs or alcohol.

They were taken to New Cross Hospital for treatment.

West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman Claire Brown said: "Three ambulances, a community paramedic, a paramedic officer and a Merit Trauma officer were sent to the scene.

"The three patients were unconscious on the ground outside the Planet nightclub, having apparently collapsed. There is a question as to whether drink or drugs were involved.

"They were all taken by land ambulances to New Cross Hospital."

It is not known if the three people had been inside the nightclub before they collapsed.

This morning police were at the scene examining CCTV footage.
