Loretta Floyd, aged 75, suffered serious injuries when her silver Vauxhall Corsa and a silver Nissan Navara pick-up collided on the A449 at Moss Pit on January 15.

Police said last night the pensioner died of her injuries on Monday. Neighbours said the mother-of-two, who previously lived in the Gnosall area, had been out with one of her daughters when the crash happened.

Fred Cryer, aged 83, who lived near her in Lilleshall Way, Stafford, said: "I was very shocked to hear that Loretta passed away.

She was a very nice person. She hadn't been living here all that long.

"As far as I'm aware she went out to lunch with her daughter and was returning when the collision happened on the railway bridge on the A449."

A 51-year-old womanpassenger in the Corsa was taken to Stafford Hospital with minor injuries while the driver of the Nissan, a 69-year-old man from Stafford, suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
