The youngsters at Belle Vue Primary School in Wordsley used soft swimming aids to beat out “We Will Miss You” to Queen’s “We Will Rock You” anthem.

Mother-of-two Linda Scott, aged 64, was “pleasantly surprised” when asked to do gate duty and discovered some of the pupils, socially distanced, waiting outside and marking the occasion in their own special way.

Linda joined the school in March 1990 and has worked with four headteachers, including the present head Joel Marshall, as well as several deputy headteachers and enjoyed a socially-distanced afternoon with colleagues before being invited to carry out gate duty for the last time.

Marie Hunt, a fellow administrator, said: “Linda has been a key member of our community and been instrumental in supporting our families in the school for the last 31 years.”
