Ryders Green Primary School in West Bromwich has installed banners to help share key Covid-19 public health messages.

They have been informing people of the changing infection rate per 100,000, which still remains worryingly high.

Headteacher Lucy Blackmore, said: “We wanted to help to reduce the high rates of Covid-19 in Greets Green and Lyng Ward.

"We have kept staff, parents and pupils up to date on the local situation, by providing the latest data. But we wanted to do more and this is a way of spreading the word.”

Councillor Farut Shaeen, cabinet member for living healthy lives, said: “I want to thank Ryders Green and all Sandwell schools for their continued hard work and dedication, not only in educating pupils but in providing information and support to their local communities.

“The Covid-19 infection rate remains dangerously high in Sandwell. We encourage all residents to follow the Government guidance and self-isolate if they or someone they live have Covid-19 symptoms.”

Deputy leader, Councillor Maria Crompton, added: “Sandwell has always had a fantastic community spirit and our schools play a key part in that. I am extremely proud and grateful to everyone who is following the rules, helping to keep others safe and save lives.

“If we all work together, we can drive down cases in Sandwell and get back to normal.”
