Three people arrested after gun and knife recovered in Birmingham

A gun and a knife has been recovered and three people arrested after officers stopped a car in Birmingham.

Shortly before 6pm on Saturday, May 22, officers on routine patrol spotted a Mercedes on Slade Road which had previously failed to stop for police.

The car, with three people inside was stopped and searched, and a firearm was discovered on the back seat. West Midlands Police's armed firearms unit attended the scene to make the gun secure.

A teenager in the car, was also found to be in possession of a knife.

Two men, both aged 24, and a 17-year-old boy, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of a firearm. They all remained in police custody on Sunday.

The firearm, which is was later found to be a loaded and viable pistol, has now been taken off the streets and seized for forensic examination.
