Woman seriously assaulted in Walsall

A woman was hospitalised with serious injuries having been seriously assaulted in the Black Country.

The woman, who is in her late 30s, was badly beaten in Glebe Street in Walsall in the early hours of Tuesday, May 18.

The assault is believed to have taken place between midnight and 1am.

The woman is still in hospital receiving treatment for her injuries.

West Midlands Police officers have launched an investigation – and are keen to speak to an Asian man in his 30s who was nearby at the time of the assault.

A spokesman for the force said: "We are investigating a serious assault on a woman in Walsall during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

"An investigation is underway, including forensic examination of the scene and a CCTV trawl.

"We’re keen to speak to an Asian man in his 30s, who is around 5ft 8ins tall and has a slim build. He was seen walking from Bradford Street along Wednesbury Road towards Glebe Street, around the time and he may be able to provide key information."

Anyone who saw anything, or was in the area at the time, is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting crime reference number 20/677356/21.
