Man charged with murder of Bashir Mohamed

A man has been charged with murder after the fatal stabbing of Bashir Mohamed in Birmingham on Thursday.

Detectives arrested 24-year-old Mohib Tasharat on Friday at Birmingham Airport on suspicion of murder.

Tasharat of Wenlock Road, Birmingham, was charged with murder yesterday and was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.

Mr Mohamed, from Erdington, was found critically injured in Shyltons Croft, Ladywood, just before 4.20am and died at the scene from a stab wound to his arm.

Officers have also arrested two further men, aged 19 and 28, on suspicion of murder.

The 19-year-old man who was arrested on Saturday from an airport in London remains in police custody for questioning.

The 28-year-old arrested on Friday after attending a police station in Birmingham has been released on bail with conditions as enquiries continue.

An 18-year-old man arrested on Friday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder has also been bailed pending investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Mobberley, from West Midlands Police's homicide team, said: "This is a fast-moving and complex investigation and these developments are significant.

"But we are still working to establish the full circumstances around this fatal stabbing and we’re appealing again for witnesses or anyone with information about the killing to get in touch.

"They can talk to us in confidence or contact the charity Crimestoppers anonymously."
