Officers are warning others not to leave pets in cars unattended after the incident at West Midlands Designer Outlet yesterday.

Kayleigh Holmes , PCSO for Cannock, said: "Local patrols have attended the West Midlands Designer Outlet, Cannock on Saturday 24th April 2021 due to there being another incident of a dog being locked in a car.

"As we are all aware, today has been a lovely, hot sunny day, even with the windows left open ajar, this is not the correct environment for an animal to be left in.

"West Midlands Designer Outlet is dog friendly and are allowing dogs onto the premises, even some retail stores are allowing dogs into the store, however that depends on the retail store.

"If you are unable to take your dog onto the premises, DO NOT leave them in your vehicle, as you may come back to a smashed window in order to rescue your animal.

"If you come across an animal locked inside a vehicle, please contact 101 and let the local policing team know."
