Number of arrests after series of police pursuits on motorists in Staffordshire and West Midlands

A number of arrests have been made following a series of police pursuits on motorists across the region.

Police seized a vehicle after a man was caught watching YouTube on his phone while driving in Staffordshire.

Officers from the road policing unit made the bust in Penkridge on Saturday after the driver revealed he only had a provision licence.

The vehicle was seized, with the man set to go to court.

Officers from the Central Motorway Police Group tracked down a stolen Mercedes and pursued it through Walsall, Brownhills and Four Oaks.

Four people were taken into custody after the officers managed to sting the car, relating to a Cannock burglary, and bring it to a halt.

Another driver was arrested in Norton Canes after failing to stop – leading the driver to crash trying to go round an island.

Meanwhile, in Smethwick, a cloned Ford Focus ended up driving into West Smethwick Park after being pursued by the force.

The driver was arrested.
