Man charged with murder after teenager killed in Great Barr stabbing

A man has been charged over the murder of a teenager who died after being stabbed in Great Barr.

Jack Barry, aged 19, was discovered seriously injured in West Road at around 9.45pm on March 7.

He was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of the emergency services.

Cameron Cheshire, 18, from West Road in Great Barr, has been charged with murder.

The teenager has been remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Detective Inspector Hannah Whitehouse, from West Midlands Police's homicide team, said: “Our investigation continues at pace and our thoughts remain with Jack’s family who have been informed of this development.

"We’re grateful for the support we’ve received so far as we seek to establish the full circumstances of what happened on Sunday evening.

"But we still believe there are people out there who have information which can assist our investigation and I’d urge them to contact us."
