An 18-year-old man has appeared in court after being charged over the stabbing of a teenager who was left seriously injured in hospital - as detectives stepped up their hunt for another man believed to have been involved.

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the stomach on Coldmore Road, Coldmore, Walsall, at around 3.30pm on Wednesday. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Marshall Barnett, of Redhouse Street, Walsall, has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife. He was remanded in custody after appearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court yesterday morning.

Police believe the victim was attacked by two men and have now released CCTV images of a suspect wanted in connection with the investigation. Officers have been trawling CCTV since the attack on Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Jackie Nicholson said: “We need to identify this man. We’ve seized decent quality images and I’m sure someone will recognise him.

“I would urge anyone who believes they know who he is to get in touch with us immediately so we can take action.

"I would also encourage the man in question to do the right thing, come and talk to us.”
