An appeal for information has been launched after the three Himalayan Birch trees were sawn down at Brinton Park – in the third mindless attack of its kind in the last six years.

The trees, worth £1,000, were planted in memory of former Wyre Forest District Council parks officer Robin Minton.

The latest incident happened over the weekend of February 6 and 7, close to the four winds shelter.

Wyre Forest District Council leader, Councillor Graham Ballinger, said: "There really are no words to describe this kind of attack. The trees were planted in memory of one of our well-respected parks officers.

"I can’t imagine how upsetting this latest attack must be for his friends and family.

“So many people in our community have come to rely on our parks and open spaces during this extremely difficult year, it’s hard to explain why anyone should feel they need to damage what is a much-loved local resource in such a way.

“If anyone saw anything or has any information can lead to identifying those responsible, I would urge them to report it as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information about the vandalism, is urged to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 22/14161/21.
