Health worker dragged from car and threatened with knife in West Bromwich

A health worker was dragged from her car and threatened with a knife at a busy Black Country car park.

The woman was violently pulled from her Ford Focus in a car park of New Square shopping centre in West Bromwich.

The incident unfolded at around 5pm on Wednesday, February 10.

The woman's attackers got away but the stolen vehicle was spotted by police travelling on the A41 during the early hours of the following day.

The Focus was chased by officers and eventually stopped by a stinger in Handsworth.

The vehicle was abandoned but one man was detained by officers after a footchase.

Ben McCaffer, 33, and of no fixed address, was later charged with robbery, dangerous driving and having no licence or insurance.

He appeared before appear Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 12, where he was remanded in custody to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on March 12.

West Midlands Police officers also arrested a second man in connection with the robbery on Friday evening.

Aubrey Blick, 39, also of no fixed address, was remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Monday, February 15. He has also been remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on March 15.
