Man charged with murder after body found in bath

A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a body in a bath at a house in Birmingham.

Officers were called to Holly Road, in Handsworth, at around 9am on Sunday where they found the body of a man with multiple serious injuries.

The victim – who was pronounced dead at the scene – has not been formally identified but is believed to be a man in his 20s.

A man was arrested a few miles away later that morning on train tracks near Wigmore Lane in West Bromwich.

On Monday night, West Midlands Police's Homicide Unit charged David Swaby, of Holly Road, in Handsworth, with murder.

The 33-year-old will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning. He was remanded in custody to appear before Birmingham Crown Court on February 11.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out later today to find out how the man died.
