Trial date delayed into Wolverhampton car firm brothers

A new trial date has been set for two brothers accused of fraudulent trading at a Wolverhampton garage.

Prithpal and Jaspal Virdee, aged 42 and 26, will stand trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court on February 7, 2022.

It means their original trial date, which was scheduled for June 15 in 2020, has been pushed back 20 months.

The offences relate to work the brothers carried out at Engine Reconditioning, in Sunbeam Street, Wolverhampton.

A previous court hearing heard customers of the garage complained of being overcharged for repairs and conned out of money.

Prithpal Virdee, of Finchfield Gardens, Wolverhampton, has denied 17 charges while Jaspal Virdee, of Richmond Road, Wolverhampton, has denied two charges.

The dates of the alleged offences range from 2013 to 2017.

A pre trial review hearing has been scheduled to take place at Wolverhampton Crown Court on September 27, 2021.
