Man suffers fractured eye socket and broken jaw after violence flares on night out

A man left needing surgery after being seriously injured as violence flared on a night out prompting a police investigation.

Officers from Staffordshire Police are appealing for information after a man was injured in the disturbance last weekend.

The 24-year-old victim suffered a fractured eye socket and his jaw was broken in two places.

Trouble is believed to have happened inside The Shrew bar, in Market Street, Rugeley.

He was taken by a relative to the Samuel Johnson Hospital, in Lichfield, before being transferred to the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary for surgery.

He was discharged yesterday.

Police say the attack happened some time after 1am on Sunday.

Detective Sergeant Kiley Round, of Staffordshire Police, said: "We are appealing for the public's help to find witnesses to this incident.

"The young man involved sustained serious injuries to his jaw which needed surgery.

"If you were in The Shrew and saw the incident, or if you know anything about what happened, please contact us."

Anyone with information can call Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 746 of 11 December.
