Great Barr bleach attack: Teenager facing police interview

A teenager has come forward to be interviewed by police after a schoolboy had bleach squirted in his eyes.

Police say the 13-year-old boy will be interviewed in connection with the incident happened on September 22.

The schoolboy, aged 11, had the substance thrown over him as he walked home from Great Barr School.

The attack happened in Birdbrook Road, in the Old Oscott area, with a nearby shopkeeper helping the youngster following the attack.

West Midlands Police spokeswoman Gina Lycett said: "He will be interviewed in due course as the enquiry continues. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."

The injured boy fled from his assailants and took refuge at Birdbrook Newsagent further up the road.

Owner Bal Showker and his wife tried to help the boy.
