Mohamed Waheed Saeed, aged 41, of Wombourne Park in Wombourne was arrested on July 1 at his address, where police found and seized a large amount of Class A drugs, later identified as cocaine, with a street value of around £100,000.

The raid was part of Staffordshire Police's Operation Nemesis, which targets criminals and would-be criminals who travel to the county to deal drugs and exploit the vulnerable.

Saeed appeared at Stafford Crown court on August 5, charged with possession with intent to supply a class A drug.

He was sentenced to five years and eight months in prison after pleading guilty to the charge at an earlier court appearance.

Detective Inspector Lesley Fowler, from Staffordshire Police, said: "Staffordshire Police is committed to targeting this sort of criminality as part of on-going Operation Nemesis.

"The sentence that Saeed has received displays that this sort of criminal activity will not be tolerated."

Operation Nemesis also targets individuals within Staffordshire who are involved in drug dealing on behalf of out-of-county dealers.

It comes after the Express & Star revealed 51arrests were made by Staffordshire Police as part of Operation Nemesis in just over a month.

Since the end of June, 51 arrests have been made and drug hauls worth hundreds of thousands of pounds have been seized, along with cash and weapons. The campaign was launched in 2006 to crack down on drug crime.

Detective Chief Superintendent Laurie Whitby-Smith said: "The force is going through a period of high success rate in terms of catching criminals coming in from inner city areas, such as Birmingham, Wolverhampton or even further afield, bringing with them drugs and often weapons. The message we want to send to these criminals is that they are not welcome. Staffordshire is becoming an increasingly hostile place for them to carry out this illegal business. Operation Nemesis has been something the force has been working on for 10 years and in recent months, thanks to our work with other organisations, we are seeing an increase in our success rate.

"We are catching these criminals as they come into Staffordshire, searching their cars or if they travel by train, their bags, seizing illegal items and prosecuting them.

"They need to be aware that there is no end in sight for this."

He added: "Since June, we have made 51 arrests, Our officers have done great work."
