Stafford man who raped child is locked up for 14 years

A man has been jailed for 14 years for a string of sex offences including raping a child under 13.

Martyn Talbot, aged 37, from The Drive, Doxey in Stafford, admitted 13 charges in total yesterday.

He pleaded guilty to one count of rape of a child under 13, one count of taking indecent photographs of a child, three counts of making indecent photographs of children, one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image and seven counts committing an act outraging public decency.

Talbot was originally arrested on Monday, August 24 last year following an incident in Asda supermarket on Lammascote Road, Stafford.

He was questioned by police who subsequently searched his home where they gathered evidence concerning numerous offences.

After the sentencing Detective Sergeant Jo Blandford, said: "I would firstly like to thank those affected by the crimes committed by Talbot. It has been an emotional journey for them and I commend their courage and determination during this difficult time.

"I welcome today's sentencing of Talbot. Staffordshire Police will always do whatever it takes to bring such offenders to justice, while ensuring victims and their families are offered the support they need.
