£100,000 worth of cannabis found in Oldbury raid

Published

Around £100,000 of cannabis was found by police when officers were alerted to an Oldbury cannabis factory from a member of public.

Officers from Oldbury Police Station discovered 201 plants in a property on Birmingham Street on Tuesday just after 6pm.

Six rooms had been used for cultivating the plants and the electricity had been illegally abstracted.

No arrests were made and no-one was in the property at the time.

West Midlands Police spokesman Deb Edmunds said: "A member of public had flagged us down in the street as there was a strong smell of cannabis outside the premises."

Photographs from the scene show dozens of plants housed in a room light by artificial lamps.

Hydroponic growing equipment was also on show.

The factory was discovered behind a disused shop in Birmingham Street.
