Police issued an appeal last week after a 16-year-old girl was allegedly picked up while walking along Sutton Road in Aldridge towards the Beacon Road junction traffic lights.

The appeal included an e-fit of a man suspected of picking up the girl at approximately 10.30pm on April 18.

The 26-year-old man has now been arrested and released on bail.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after handing himself in at a police station.

"He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue."
