Suspects 'befriended then beat and robbed' disabled man in Wolverhampton city centre
Suspects were wanted by police today after allegedly befriending and then attacking a disabled man in Wolverhampton city centre.
They chatted to the victim, who has cerebral palsy and is partially sighted, in a takeaway on Broad Street, before offering to walk with the man.
But they lured him to a subway on Wulfruna Street where they pushed him to the ground, kicked and punched the 20-year-old in the head.
They took his mobile phone and cash before fleeing.
The victim made it to a pay phone and called 999, before he was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries. He was left with cuts and bruises.
He has since been released, but police say he is traumatised by what happened, at around 2.30am last Friday.
Dc Simon Williams, from Wolverhampton CID, said: "This was a callous attack on a vulnerable man and I am appealing to anyone who recognises the pair to come forward.
"The man is obviously traumatised by his ordeal, he had been enjoying a night out in Wolverhampton when he was befriended by these cruel and cowardly thugs.
"The images are really clear and I am sure that someone knows who these two are. I would like to appeal to the men in the images to do the right thing and come forward. It is only a matter of time before we come knocking at their door."
