Five masked men broke into the house at around 9.30pm and held down the victim so they could steal from her.

They searched all the rooms in the house and stole cash and medication, while another woman in the house, aged 67, also had cash taken from her purse.

It happened on March 30 in West Bromwich, but details were only released by police today.

Acting Det Sgt Julian Hawley who is investigating the robbery said: "This was a really traumatic and disturbing ordeal for the victims who were minding their own business in their own home.

"Officers are trawling CCTV of the area and have been conducting house to house enquiries, we have also stepped up patrols in the area to reassure the local community.

"We are currently pursuing a number of lines of enquiry but would be very keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the offence - even the most insignificant piece of information could help us progress our investigation."
