The 54-year-old was held from his Wolverhampton home on Tuesday night under new 'coercive control' laws, aimed at protecting people caught in abusive or controlling relationships.

West Midlands Police said yesterday that his daughter alleged that he controlled her 'finances, movement and contact with friends'.

The force said today that he was released without charge and will face no further action, but that steps had been taken to safeguard his daughter.
