Burglars broke in through the back of Your Protein on Clark Road, off the Tettenhall Road near West Park, between 4pm on Saturday and 10am on Monday.

They also stole £80 in cash from the till.

Some of the supplements were recovered after the thieves apparently dropped them by a fence.

Owner Adam Allcott today said around 100 containers were taken. Today, shelves at the shop lay bare after the haul of goods were taken. Raiders made off with containers filled with protein powders during the burglary.

"The first we knew was on Monday morning when my employee came in at about 10am," said Mr Allcott.

He said the burglars first attempted to get in through the roof, but when they couldn't they ripped out brickwork at the back of the shop.

"They tried to come through the roof and they reached metal, so they decided to take the brickwork out and forced the door and shutter at the back. I'm gutted, I can't trade at the moment, I have got to sort the insurance out and get a new alarm system and CCTV fitted. It's devastating."

Mr Allcott said now he would be assessing the cost of the damage, with a view to finding out how much was also caused to the structure of the building as the thieves forced their way in.

Hannah Fitzgerald, for West Midlands Police, said they were looking at CCTV, doing house-to-house inquiries and checking second-hand shops.
