Murder charge after neighbour found dead in Wednesfield

A man has been charged with murdering a neighbour after a body was found at a house in Wednesfield.

Unemployed Patrick Ryan appeared in court today after the discovery of Philip Evans' body in Blackwood Avenue at around 5.50am on Sunday.

He was arrested from his home in Blackwood Avenue less two hours later. He appeared before city magistrates today and will appear the city's crown court on Thursday.

Mr Evans, 42, was later found to have died from head injuries. Ryan, 25, was arrested less than two hours later at his home in the street.

Det Insp Martin Slevin said: "We continue to appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious in Blackwood Avenue between midnight and 6am and has not yet come forward to contact me or one of the team."
