The 17-year-old was one of two people held over an incident in Derby involving a teenage mother and her child.

The mother, aged 19, called police on Monday last week to report that a woman claiming to be a social worker knocked at the door of her home.

The woman asked to hold the mother's baby. They spoke on the doorstep for a short time before she handed the child back and left.

A 17-year-old from Evesham has been charged with attempted kidnap and was appearing before magistrates in Derby today.

The suspect from Wolverhampton has been released on bail while the investigation continues.
