Wendy Mann murder probe: West Bromwich victim died from asphyxiation, say police

A woman whose body was found in her West Bromwich house died from asphyxiation, police revealed this afternoon, as detectives were given more time to quiz a suspect over her suspected murder.

Wendy Mann's body was discovered in the kitchen of the house in Chapel Street, just before 11.30am on Friday.

A forensic post mortem has revealed the 26-year-old died from asphyxiation.

A 52-year-old man who arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday remains in police custody, after police were yesterday morning granted an extra 36 hours to question him.

Det Insp Martin Slevin, from Force CID, said: "Inquiries are on-going and forensic examinations at the scene are continuing.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in Chapel Street this week, particularly on Thursday 27 August, to call us on 101.

"A man has been arrested but our investigation is still in the early stages and we want to hear from anyone who can provide information that could help us."
