Bus thug who broke passenger's nose is jailed for 18 months
A thug who beat a bus passenger and left him with a broken nose after being asked if he could stop his partner's children throwing sweets has been jailed for 18 months.
Jason Wilson even squirted his victim with lemon juice, temporarily blinding him, as he kicked, kneed and punched him in a seven minute attack.
The violence unfolded on a No 24 bus travelling on Birmingham's Broad Street, but was caught on CCTV.
The 21-year-old victim, from Birmingham's Woodgate area, was left with facial cuts, bruises and a a broken nose.
The images were widely circulated and a number of people named Wilson, 35, as the attacker.
Police made several attempts to arrest Wilson, of Dudnill Grove, Bartley Green, and he eventually naded himself into the police six weeks later.
Sgt Ben Westwood, of West Midlands Police, said: "People were understandably disgusted by the footage: the victim was minding his own business when he politely asked Wilson to stop the children throwing sweets at him...but that request prompted a barbaric, prolonged attack.
"At one stage Wilson stood on a seat to get a better kicking angle…the victim was lucky to escape with only a broken nose as it could have been much worse. And what makes it even more shocking is that he unleashed the attack in front of the children he was travelling with.
"We are extremely grateful to all the people who shared the footage on social media, the response was fantastic."
The attack happened at around 5.45pm on January 11.
