A £10,000 reward is being offered for information about the murder of 75-year-old Mohammed Saleem who was stabbed as he walked home from prayers.

Independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers has put up the huge reward as police continue in their hunt to find the Birmingham pensioner's killer.

Mr Saleem was stabbed as he walked home from the Green Lane Mosque, along Little Green Lane, Small Heath, just before 10.30pm on April 29.

Officers remain focussed on identifying a man captured on a CCTV camera running along Wyndcliffe Road near to where Mr Saleem was murdered.

Crimestoppers has now offered the reward to assist detectives in their quest to establish who carried out the attack.

Det Supt Mark Payne, who is leading the investigation, said: "This reward could be key to encouraging someone who is reluctant to come forward to change their mind and help our inquiry. Our appeal is simple – someone out there knows who is on that CCTV image, they recognise their movement or their clothing. Maybe there are concerns about someone's behaviour since the murder? Now is the time to act."

The motive for the attack remains unclear and detectives continue to investigate all lines of enquiry.
