Sainsbury’s in Wombourne has been allocated additional cash from its head office to support those in need in the local area.

The funds are being used to help schools and young people in the village by creating care packages.

Care packages will contain food items to help feed children who are home schooling during the pandemic.

The store is also creating stationary packs, filled with pens, pencils, notepads and accessories to ensure children have the tools to learn.

Georgia Crowe, public relations ambassador, said: “Since speaking to all of our local schools, in and around Wombourne, we are now working towards supporting 23 different families, by providing a care package to help feed their children during these very trying times.

“Food items to help support with breakfast, snacks, lunches and evening meals will all be provided with the hope that they will help families over the coming weeks.

“I am so glad that we are able to support our community in this way.”

The store is also supporting children at Blakeley Heath Primary School who are still physically attending classes.
