As had been requested by Sandy the funeral was not a morbid affair with many donning fancy dress at the service, which was attended by nearly 300 people.

Some dressed as Santa, whilst others donned Blues Brothers suits – the 51-year-old's favourite band.

Her husband of 10 years Mike Duncombe thanked everyone for coming, including the 100-plus bikers, who travelled from all over the country to attend on Wednesday.

The 59-year-old said: "We had people from all over the country come, from Wales, Birmingham, local, just all over.

"She arranged the service herself and it was more of a celebration than a morbid event, it was actually fun.

"There was singing throughout, it finished on the Blues Brothers song Everybody Needs Somebody to Love, which everyone sang to."

Sandy died following a 16-month battle with lung cancer last month and worked as a stock controller at the NHS before she had to retire due to her declining health.

She developed a life-long love of motorcycles, despite never riding one herself, she regularly attending motorcycle rallies across the UK with her husband on the back of his Honda Pan European 1100cc bike.

As well as her passion for motorbikes, Sandy raised thousands of pounds for charity, with £1,300 taken in donations at her funeral for Compton Hospice where she stayed for one month earlier this year.

Husband, Mike, said: "She was so strong. Even when she knew she was dying, she was more worried about everyone else."

He is planning to raise more money for Compton Hospice in a memorial event in the New Year.

She leaves three children, two step children and three grandchildren.
