Officers burst into the Wednesbury home with weapons in hand after being called to a report of a woman being threatened with a gun three hours earlier.

A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

More than 10 armed officers were stationed on Short Street and at the front and back of the house, while marked police cars blocked off the road after a report of a neighbour dispute just after 6.30am.

The quiet residential street, which joins Darlaston Road and Bilston Road, was completely sealed off and neighbours who were preparing to go to work were ordered to stay inside.

Many watched the incident unfold from the safety of their homes while some peered outside and posted footage of the siege on social media.

Police marksmen kept their weapons trained on the property from the street in front, while other officers waited with dogs and a battering ram before bursting inside at 9.25am.

The officers were inside for around 10 minutes before returning to the road and standing down.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Shortly after the raid, medics who had been waiting in a nearby ambulance entered the building but it is unclear whether anybody was injured.
