The latest figures for the most popular names for newborn bundles of joy were released yesterday by the Office for National Statistics.

In 2014, Muhammed and Mohammed were second and third in the West Midlands region, highlighting the area's strong Asian community.

Further names making the top 10 were Harry, Jacob, Jack, Mohammad, George, Noah and Thomas.

Amelia topped the table for girls with 583 of 33,790 babies born given the name.

Olivia was also popular again, with 475 newborns given the moniker, while Jessica came in third with 312.

The top 10 was made up of Isla, Ava, Emily, Ella, Poppy, Lily and Isabella.

Nationally, Oliver retained the title of most popular, with 6,566 boys given the name, while Jack and Harry completed the top three.
