Memorial event held for teen bike crash victim Brandon Holt
'I hope you realise just how much you were loved and how much you will be sadly missed.'
The heartfelt words of Brandon Holt's friends who turned out to a memorial fundraising event to pay tribute to the late teenager who was tragically killed in a bike accident.
Dozens of people from the Wren's Nest community flocked to the event on Hillside Road to pay their respects and help raise money to pay for his funeral.
Brandon, aged 17, died on May 29 when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a stationary car.
He was treated by paramedics on the scene but later died at hospital.
West Midlands Police have launched a probe to see if the bike Brandon was riding was stolen and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward at the time of the crash.
His best friend Ben Mosses, aged 24, from Wrens Nest, said: "The event was really good.
"We thought he would have been proud of what we did.
"We met up the day after he died and thought what can we do for him.
"He was one of the kindest people you could meet. He would always help you with anything. I couldn't say a bad word about him. I have known Brandon for two years but after the first day we met we were like best mates.
"Brandon died doing something he loved, he loved motorbikes, I have got two and we would always go off-roading every Sunday at my mate's own track.
"If he would have known the bike was stolen he wouldn't have got on it, but one foolish mistake cost him his life, it is such a shame."
At the fundraising a car wash, tombola, cake stands and a burger van before a
charity football match was held on Sunday.
Ben's girlfriend, Rachael Wood, aged 22, from Wren's Nest, said: "Brandon was a very funny character, a really nice lad he was. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
"If I could say a message to Brandon it would be 'I hope you realise just how much you was loved and how much you will be sadly missed."
