The unidentified golfer had to be helped out by a mate in a Renault Clio after struggling to fit the designer clubs into the tiny boot of his Lamborghini Huracan.

The poor bloke was pictured by a fellow driver at Three Hammers Golf Complex in Coven after finishing a round on Tuesday and realising his irons were too big for the supercar.

The Huracan has a top speed of 200mph but its V10 engine leaves little room for luggage, as the red-faced golfer discovered.

According to onlookers, the man had rented the car for the day in a bid to impress pals as he left the course but instead a friend ferried the clubs off in a Renault Clio.

An eyewitness said: "I noticed what I thought was the owner coming back to the car himself and saw he was having difficulty getting his bag into the boot.

"He looked pretty bemused as clearly he wasn't going to cram an entire set of clubs into that tiny boot.

"Obviously he had big bucks, but no brains – in the end the bloke had to call somebody to pick them up and drive them home for him.

"I reckon he had rented the car to impress his mates on the way back from the course but ended up looking like a bit of a prat. The Clio was a lot less glamorous than the Lambo."

The car had been hired from Birmingham-based rental firm Celebrity Supercar Hire.

A spokesperson for the firm said: "The car had been hired out for the day. We do a full-walk around with people before they hire the car out. It's pretty clear there isn't much space in the boot."
