Girl, 9, knocked unconscious falling off wall in Wolverhampton park

A nine-year-old girl was knocked unconscious when she fell off a wall and landed on her head in Wolverhampton's East Park this afternoon.

The youngster was taken to the region's paediatric major trauma centre at Birmingham Children's Hospital after the incident at about 2.20pm.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said an ambulance arrived in eight minutes and was backed up by a paramedic area support officer, a critical care paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with the MERIT Trauma doctor on board.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "When crew arrived, they were told that the nine-year-old girl had fallen about five feet and landed on her head.

"She was initially unconscious and had a head injury.

"The doctor from the aircraft travelled with the land ambulance crew as she was taken to the paediatric major trauma centre at Birmingham Children's Hospital."
