Mother Jen Beck-Balcikli, aged 30 and nine-month-old baby girl Alara were enjoying the family reunion on Hamilton Island off the Queensland coast when the buggy they were in slammed into another parked golf cart, with 11 other family members involved in the accident.

They are all at three different hospitals in Townsville, Mackay and Prosperine, according to family member Joanne Miller who lives in Bangalow, New South Wales.

She has set up a Go Fund Me page in support of the family.

She said a family member called Nick was the only family member who lived in Australia.

The crash happened last Thursday at around 8.20am and left Alara with a fractured skull and Mrs Beck-Balcikli with a fractured leg, skull, arm, facial injuries, broken ribs and a punctured leg.

Another man collapsed from shock after witnessing the accident, which left two golf buggies on their sides, one on top of the other and debris strewn about.

Donations have been coming in thick and fast and $6,985 Australian Dollars has been raised in five days.

In the latest update on the Go Fund Me the page, it read: "Mike remains in Mackay Hospital, he is now the only family member not in Townsville. The family are trying to get him moved to Townsville.

"Mabel, the baby with the fractured leg, is in Townsville hospital. Jen is still in an induced coma, her daughter Alara has had her status moved from critical to serious but stable. It's a step forward."

Golf buggies are the main mode of transportation around the island and are available for hire or complimentary for some guests.
