PICTURES: Chip shop roof severely damaged after blaze

A fire broke out at fish and chip shop in Wolverhampton causing severe damage to the roof.

Firefighters were called to Fryday's on Dudley Road in Wolverhampton last night at around 6.25pm.

Watch commander Andy Morgan said: "We arrived to find a well developed fire in the ducting of the frying range.

"It spread to the ceiling, causing quite severe damage to the roof."

Customers were inside at the time and the shop was evacuated. No-one was hurt.

One lane of Dudley Road was closed for around two hours.
