Where you can Race for Life in 2016

It's time to kick that Christmas weight into shape for Cancer Research UK, with women throughout the Midlands invited to run, jog or walk at any one of the Race for Life Pretty Muddy events.

To get involved in any of the Race for Life events throughout Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Birmingham areas, women of all abilities, shapes and sizes are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible for a series of events taking place throughout the summer.

There will be 65 Pretty Muddy events across the UK and they are a women-only, non-competitive 5k obstacle course – with mud - open to women and girls over 13, of all fitness levels

However way you do it, you will help to raise money to beat over 200 types of cancer affecting men, women and children.

The first Pretty Muddy event in the region takes place on April 30 at Weston Park, with a 5 or 10k race with obstacle course to complete.

Walsall's 10k Race for Life takes place on May 15 at 11am at Walsall Arboretum, with a further 5k race on May 15 at 11am.

Wolverhampton has its 5k race on June 6 from 7.30pm at West Park and Dudley will hold a 5k race on July 10 from 11am at Himley Hall, Dudley.

There is also a Pretty Muddy race and obstacle course taking place in Birmingham on the July 16 at Cofton Park from 10am.

All women are welcome and you can raise money either as an individual or as a group, with the simple online entry process.

Women who sign up for 5k and 10k events in January can benefit from a specially reduced fee of £10.00.

The normal entry fee for the 5k and 10k events is £14.99 for adults and £10 for girls under 16

The first Race for Life took place in 1994 at Battersea Park with 680 participants and now is UK's largest women-only fundraising event series, with over 300 events around the UK from May to the end of September.

In 2016, Cancer Research UK hopes to recruit 554,000 women and raise £55m to help fund life-saving work.

The Pretty Muddy events are a new addition to Race for Life which also includes the 5k and 10k races.
