The women, who lost the pounds taking on the Cambridge Weight Plan, stripped off for a naked calendar which is now on sale.

Louise Peck, Kay Bowen, Nicky Evans, Karen Freeman, Tanya Mercer, Brigitte Rafferty, Kerry Salmon, Nicky Colyer, Tiffany Johnson and organiser Sarah Westwood hope to raise £2,000 for a new automated external defibrillator.

The girls are unsure where they will place the new defibrillator, but have said it will be local.

Ms Bowen, from Sedgley, said: "This calendar has been created by a team of Cambridge consultants and clients based in the West Midlands with photographs of successful slimmer's who have collectively lost over 20 stone using the CWP programme.

They have given their time to step out of their comfort zone to raise money to buy an automated external defibrillator or even more than one that can then be placed in local villages, towns where immediate access to this kind of equipment is not presently available."

With the shoot and calendar being for charity, the group had to get as much of it done for as little as possible.

Wolverhampton-based Dark Lens Photographic Services provided the photo shoot free of charge while ALK Print provided the photographs.

Sarah Westwood, from Bushbury in Wolverhampton, who organised the fundraiser alongside Ms Bowen said: "As this is fundraising we have had the task of getting as much free of charge as possible.

"Dark Lens kindly offered us a free photo shoot with free use of his studio and free hair and make up artists. This was a massive part of our task taken care of at no cost at all.

"We have also had to get companies to sponsor us and have their company logos on the calender which we managed to achieve and this allowed us to buy the final product – the calender.

"We were given a massive discount on 800 calenders which will be sold all over the country.

"Myself and Kay who are the organisers are based Wolverhampton and Sedgley, we haven't decided on a location for the equipment as of yet but it will definitely be within the local area."

This is not the first time Cambridge Weight Plan have raised money for charity. In January earlier this year the girls raised over £100 for Wolverhampton's cardiac unit to coincide with National Obesity Awareness Week.

On their roadshow they also visited, Dudley, Sedgley, Walsall and Stafford.
