Go Carz is still after 200 drivers to join the team and in the wake of news of job losses at Caparo and Goodyear, the firm is calling on people out of work to come forward.

The company has already held open days in Wolverhampton and Walsall but bosses say positions are still available.

Managing director Carl Wilday said: "It's been a really tough time with so many jobs being lost and we want to get the message out there that being a taxi driver is a genuine career opportunity.

"We have seen passenger numbers steadily increase over the past year where we have got to the point that we need more drivers to cope with demand.

"The jobs are there, and if people are prepared to work hard they can earn a very good wage from being a taxi driver."

He added: "We had good turn-outs at the open days but we still have plenty of opportunities, and estimate there is enough demand for about 200 more drivers across our Wolverhampton and Walsall offices.

"We would welcome people who used to work at Caparo, or anyone who is out of work, to get in touch and we offer training and support towards getting licensed."
