Storm Barney: London Midland Birmingham-Wolverhampton trains cancelled for rest of the day
London Midland say their rail services between Birmingham and Wolverhampton will remain suspended until the end of the day as engineers repair overhead power lines.
However, limited train services will still be running from Wolverhampton to Birmingham New Street, with trains using a less direct route, adding around 15 minutes to the journey time.
Virgin Trains have confirmed their services will still go ahead but will not be stopping at Sandwell and Dudley.
Around half a mile of overhead power lines need to be repaired after Storm Barney hit the region causing trees to topple onto tracks.
A London Midland spokesman said "We are sorry to all passengers who have had difficult journeys today. The wind is still causing further problems as it blows loose debris around. It is likely that there will be knock-on disruption for the rest of the day. Passengers are advised to check their journeys on our website and twitter feed, @LondonMidland. And don't forget to claim your delay repay compensation if your journey took 30 minutes longer than scheduled."
Train services between Birmingham New St and Lichfield began running again around midday following damage caused by last night's storm.
London Midland is aiming to get a full service on the route running in time for the evening peak.
Winds of up to 70mph toppled trees, blocked roads and caused travel disruption as the storm battered its way across the Midlands last night.
