Pedestrian dies after Hagley Road crash

A pedestrian has died following a collision with a car in Quinton.

The pedestrian, a man, suffered a cardiac arrest and died at the scene despite the efforts of passing off-duty medics.

The incident happened on Hagley Road West at around 8.20pm last night. No other person was injured.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman John Hawker said: "Crews arrived to find a pedestrian in traumatic cardiac arrest after being in collision with a car.

"An off duty paramedic and doctor were carrying out CPR on the man and ambulance medics continued resuscitation attempts using advanced life support techniques.

"Unfortunately, despite everyone's best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
