The man had been spotted acting suspiciously on CCTV at a business in Aldridge Road shortly before 2am this morning.

When officers arrived the 47-year-old jumped over a fence and made off into gardens in Blue Cedar Drive.

His escape was foiled, however, when police dog Eco discovered him hiding in the Wendy house.

The German Shepherd also found a pair of gloves, thought to have been discarded by the would-be thief, in the same garden.

The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and is assisting police with their enquiries.
