An elderly resident was approached by a man claiming he had been sent to cut down branches in Sneyd Lane, Bloxwich.

The woman was told a neighbour had complained they were interfering with their telephone line and work would cost £60.

He returned with ladders and a saw but after being confronted they left without doing any work and without any money having changed hands.

It is also believed he entered the home of a bedridden resident also.

Kevin Pitt, from Walsall police, said: "The man has been seen in the area before and has allegedly tried similar scams to obtain money from elderly residents."

He is white, mid 20s, medium build, 6ft tall, with short brown hair who speaks with a Walsall accent.
