The Princess Royal is touring the prison on October 14 in her role as Patron of The Butler Trust.

During her visit to Stafford, Princess Anne will also plant a tree at Beacon Barracks in her role as Patron of the First World War Centenary Woods Project.

Princess Anne previously met Harris when she presented the former children's entertainer with his CBE at Buckingham Palace in 2006, when she was standing in the for the Queen at the investiture ceremony.

Harris was stripped of his CBE after he was found guilty of 12 indecent assaults after a trial at Southwark Crown Court - one on an eight-year-old autograph hunter, two on girls in their early teens and a catalogue of abuse of his daughter's friend over 16 years.

He was jailed for five years and nine months for the sex abuse, meaning that he is due to serve just under three years for the crimes.

Harris, aged 85, was moved from HMP Bullingdon in Oxfordshire after reportedly being threatened by other inmates, and has been serving his sentence at Stafford Prison, which has two wings for vulnerable sex offenders, since October last year.
