Father-of-two who died after being thrown from his van in West Bromwich crash named

A father-of-two who died after he was thrown from his van and trapped underneath it during a crash in West Bromwich has been named.

Tarvinder Singh is believed to have been on his way home from work when his van hit a tree on Monday night.

Firefighters freed Mr Singh - who was trapped under the long wheel base panel of his Mercedes Sprinter van - who had suffered serious injuries in the crash, allowing ambulance staff to begin resuscitation at the scene.

The 42-year-old received advanced life support before being taken to the major trauma centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, following the crash shortly before 10.40pm on Monday night.

Sadly he died during the night.

Sergeant Alan Wood, from the Regional Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We believe that the father-of-two was on his way home from work when his van collided with a tree.

"Specialist officers are liaising with the family at this sad time and our thoughts remain with them.

"I am urging anyone who may have seen the van or saw the collision to come forward as soon as possible."

Anyone with information is urged to call the Regional Collision Investigation Unit on 101.

The road remained closed until 2.30am yesterday morning while investigations took place.
