Woman seriously injured after being hit by car in Walsall

A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Walsall this afternoon.

Ambulance crews were called to the junction of West Bromwich Road and the Broadway, Palfrey, at around 4.40pm.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman John Hawker, said: "Crews arrived to find a female pedestrian that had suffered multiple serious injuries after being struck by a car.

"The woman, believed to be around 20 years old, received trauma care at the scene by medics for serious pelvis, leg, and abdominal injuries. It is also believed the woman had a period of unconsciousness."

"Unfortunately the woman's injuries were described as very serious."

The woman was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

An ambulance and the Midlands Air ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.
